Meteorologist Clare Nasir currently presents CBBC’s popular science series – Fierce Earth. She also presents regular weather bulletins on ITV1.
Born on 20th June 1970 in Milton Keynes, Clare studied at Plymouth University from 1998 gaining a 2:1 Honours degree in Maths before taking a Masters in Applied Marine Science. In 2011 she completed a Diploma in International Environmental Policy.
Clare trained at the Met Office to become a fully qualified meteorologist. After two years, she joined the London Weather Centre, forecasting and presenting the weather for London radio stations.
In 1996, Clare joined Anglia Television as a forecaster and presenter. She left in December 1998 to return to London and worked for Carlton Television as a weather presenter.
She joined GMTV in September 2000 as weather anchor/science producer. During her time at GMTV, in addition to presenting the weather, Clare fronted a number of series including the 2004 ‘Interactive Wedding’, the travel series ‘Great Escapes’ and ‘Extreme Weather’ in which she investigated the world’s changing weather patterns. She left early mornings a decade later having shared her weather map with everyone from Gerard Butler to Boyzone! She won TV Weather Presenter of the Year at the 2011 TRIC Awards.
Clare has written columns for Now magazine (a book review) and Closer magazine and writes a weather blog for the Huffington Post. She released her first fitness DVD – ‘Clare Nasir’s Boot Camp’ in December 2010.
Clare is married to 6 Music DJ, Chris Hawkins and the couple live in Cheshire with their daughter, Sienna Clare Nasir Hawkins, born on 11th November 2009.
